আফ্রিকান-এশিয়ান ২৯টি দেশের পল্লী উন্নয়ন সংস্থা AARDO বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে পল্লী উন্নয়ন একাডেমী, বগুড়া-কে পল্লী উন্নয়নে অসামান্য অবদানের স্বীকৃতি স্বরূপ AARDO পল্লী উন্নয়ন পদক -২০১২ প্রদান করে। গত ৫ মার্চ, ২০১২ তারিখে ভারতের নয়াদিল্লিতে অনুষ্ঠিত AARDO -এর ৫০তম প্রতিষ্ঠা বার্ষিকী উদযাপন উপলক্ষ্যে ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী ড. মনমোহন সিং এর উপস্থিতিতে আরডিএ-এর মহাপরিচালক জনাব এম এ মতিন পুরস্কারটি গ্রহণ করেন।

Maruti-Suzuki and the Rural Marketing Association of India (RMAI) has awarded Dr. AKM Zakaria, an Agricultural Scientist and Director, Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogra in Bangladesh with prestigious FLAME AWARD ASIA-2016 (Gold) in recognition of his excellence for taking initiativesin rural women’s economic empowerment in Bangladesh. In celebration of 7th edition wining campaign in TajVivanta, New Delhi, India,theprestigious FLAME AWARD ASIA-2016 was handed over to Dr. Zakaria on 11 March 2016. FLAME AWARD ASIA-2016 is the most prestigious award that celebrates the best of the best in rural development, rural marketing and communication across India and Asia.

Dr. AKM Zakaria also discoursed on Bridging Digital Divide in an International Seminar on Digital Dot Rural held at New Delhi in the same day. It may be mentioned here that earlier Dr. Zakaria has also received several national and international awards most importantly, Bangabandhu National

Agriculture Award, International Communication Award, London, and Climate Award.
